Club Ride and Waiting to Race

So I joined facebook this last week?  It has been fun seeing names and faces from the past.  I am definitely a late adopter when it comes to social networking sites, but hey now I have a blog and a facebook page.  Watch out twitter here I come!!!!

Anyway to the training stuff.  I have a little gap in racing and then have 3 weekends in a row of solid road races.  I am feeling good again so I am hopeful for some solid finishes.

This past weekend the whole family spent the weekend at a friends family cabin, which was a blast.  The wife's did a triathlon (the main reason for the weekend) on Saturday morning.  Jill, my wife's friend is an amazing swimmer and was first out of the water, but lost ground on the bike and run.  Jolene didn't do so good on the swim, but hammered the bike and run.

On Saturday afternoon the husband's (Matt and I)  went for a 40 mile ride that include 6 sets of 2 min hill intervals.  There were two hills back to back that were perfect.  It was very windy, which made for a tough ride.  Sunday we played in the lake with the kids all day and thus skipped riding.

Wednesday I caught the club hill ride.  I felt tired, but pushed through it.  Even though the legs were screaming I was able to get in some solid work.  The interesting part was seeing my power file when I got home.  I set new high marks for my power at 30 sec (1000 watts) and 1 min (687).  I did make sure it was properly zeroed if you were curious.  Now I just need to carry the fitness for a few weeks and see if I can race smart.

Take Care, Jeff
